Boys Competitive Teams
A Message from Mark Seyler, SGA Owner and Boys Coach:
As a lifelong gymnast and former member of a great junior men's gymnastics program, I had a vision of the SGA Men's Gymnastics Program long before we opened the doors here in Southlake. After recently completing our third competitive season I am confident in saying that our team is well on its way to meeting that vision. Our team has continually grown over the past three years with over 50 competitive boys today. Many of our boys have won gold and others haven't yet but one thing is consistent, all the boys LOVE gymnastics! This is important for our coaches and parents as we know that men's gymnastics is a long term commitment and if the boys don't love what they are doing, they aren't going to achieve their potential. Gymnastics is a great sport with benefits in teaching the boys discipline, respect, pride, confidence, individuality, and team work. Some of these boys may vie for college scholarships and even Olympic accolades. Every boy on our team commits to do their very best each and every day and our coaching staff is here to support them in achieving their own potential.

Our Coaches
Mark Seyler
Mark is owner and Boys Team Director of Southlake Gymnastics Academy. Mark grew up in Florida and trained through the Junior Elite level at Browns Gymnastics. His accomplishments as a junior include being a five time member of the USA Junior National Team and a fifth place finish at J.O. Nationals as a Class One (equivalent to today's level 10). Mark accepted a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma in 1991 where he competed, coached, and studied. During his time at OU Mark was a key contributor to two 4th place team finishes at NCAA Nationals and also competed at USA Nationals as a Senior Elite. During Mark's 16 years as a competitive gymnast he had the opportunity to work with some of the nation's most respected coaches and to learn their techniques for training top athletes. As an active member of the SGA Boys Team coaching staff Mark works closely with Josh and the rest of the coaching staff to help ensure our training plans and overall approach to gymnastics are as efficient and effective as possible.

Josh McBride
Our head coach for our boys program, Josh McBride joins SGA with years of experience as a coach and even longer as a gymnast himself. A competitive gymnast growing up, Josh has great abilities in working with our boys team! He has brought tons of knowledge of the sport and how to develop athletes through the ranks!

Andrew Parker
Andrew started gymnastics and trained eight years as a club gymnast at Juergen's Gymnastics Academy where he reached level 10. He competed on the Kingwood High School Team for four years. During college he competed for three seasons as a member of the Texas A&M gymnastics team. He started coaching during his senior year of high school. During college he was selected to be a coach at Bryan College-Station Gymnastics and soon became a head coach. Andrew was head coach of BCS Gymnastics for 5 seasons. He was also a volunteer coach for both the men's and women's teams at Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M he graduated cum laude with degrees in mechanical engineering and psychology. He also won the Michael Sims Memorial Scholarship twice while at A&M. Andrew has been judging for three years (nationally certified), and has judged, JO, high school, AAU, and TGC competitions.

Jason Heartsfield
A part of the sport from very young, Jason has made gymnastics part of his life. As a high school gymnast at L.D. Bell and part of the gymnastics team at Texas A&M, Jason has developed a niche for coaching and developing athletes through the ranks. Jason is often found helping the students learn through watching themselves on video and learning the technical side of the elements.

Courtney Hughes
Courtney has made her way into boys gymnastics, something she has wanted to have a hand in since she started coaching. Coming from the girl's gymnastics arena, she brings a unique aspect to the boys. Courtney is always willing to learn and teach, and she has been a great addition to our boys program.

Stephen Elleby
As a college football player, Stephen valued exercise and physical fitness. After graduating with a degree in kinesiology and hanging up his cleats, he searched for a new avenue to maintain his love of sports. Upon learning how to spot tumbling, Stephen fell in love with gymnastics and is now a solid part of our team. His growth in the sport is an inspiration to our very own SGA gymnasts.
